This past weekend was a long weekend for me. We had Friday off due to a holiday, Saturday and Sunday (obviously) and then I also had Monday off. For this four day weekend, I choose to go visit a different part of Spain. Valencia.
Four day weekend for me! Can I get a “WOOT WOOT!”
Valencia is the third largest city in Spain ( following Madrid and then Barcelona ). It is on the eastern coast along the Mediterranean Sea. It is a beach town with a bunch of beautiful history.
For this particular trip, I stayed mostly in the “newer” part of the city and towards the coast.
And I touched the Mediterranean Sea for the first time!
( Sorry for the poor quality of this photo – I took this picture at night when I arrived in Valencia. But I still wanted to show you my first time touching the Mediterranean Sea! Even if the picture isn’t very good).
And weirdly enough, I honestly keep forgetting that I am in Spain and that I am in Europe. But stepping into the Mediterranean Sea gave me an “Oh my gosh, I am actually in Europe!” kind of moment.
I also visited the Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias ( The “City of Arts and Sciences” in English). It is an architectural complex which brings modern buildings to the historic country of Spain.
This place was very beautiful and had some amazingly unique pieces of architecture.
Another pleasant experience from this trip was that I decided to take advantage of this beautiful weather and walk everywhere. And a NOT so pleasant experience from this trip was deciding to walk everywhere. Um…. OW.
I’m not sure if this was my smartest decision. I enjoyed being able to walk everywhere and take in the scenery and the nice weather. But deciding to walk around the third largest city in all of Spain was a LOT of walking. And my feet may never recover. RIP.
The whole second half of my trip I was literally limping everywhere. Not to be dramatic but yes I was actually being that dramatic ( not on purpose though… it was my body’s default reaction).
Was the walking worth it: yes.
Will my feet ever forgive me: it’s still up for debate.
Valencia is a beautiful city and has so much to offer. I was there for 4 days and I still have so much yet to discover!
I am actually going back in 2 weekends for another trip with co-workers. So keep an eye out for a Valencia part 2 post!
Until then, I would just like to ask you all to keep my feet in your thoughts and prayers. And to wish me a fast and easy recovery.
Until next time!
Sincerely, ‘my feet hurt so bad’ Hanna
